Why Treat the Flu with Chemotherapy?
What? Chemotherapy for the flu? Yes, it is ridiculous, and of course, no one is actually treating the flu with chemotherapy. However, aren’t we doing something as radical when we take penicillin or some other antibiotic, hoping to cure the flu? Antibiotics don’t kill viruses. It’s a fact! What antibiotics do kill, however, is our Microbiome.
The Microbiome: We share our bodies with trillions of friendly, Necessary Bugs. Our bacteria manufacture vitamins, hormones, brain chemicals, and other life-sustaining essentials. Scientists consider our microbiome an additional human organ! Our trillions of good bacteria tip the scale at two pounds. Our microbiome is responsible for 80% of our immune system, the very thing necessary to defeat an invading virus. Needless antibiotic destruction acts like chemotherapy of this vital organ, the Microbiome & opens the door to a host of more serious, life-threatening events which has spawned a new generation of antibiotic resistant superbugs!
In the early 1900s a flu epidemic swept the world. 500 million people, or one third of the world’s population, became infected with the deadly virus. In just a few months 50 million died! Even more amazing than those staggering statistics, is that while 500 million were infected, “ONLY” 50 million died. For those unlucky 50 million, their immune system let them down. There were no antibiotics in those days, yet 90% survived. Catching a virus is not an automatic death sentence. The human race would have been wiped out centuries ago if that were the case.
We are blessed with an amazing, defensive immune system. When it’s firing on all cylinders, we increase the odds of surviving even a super virus like Ebola. Therefore enhancing our immune system should be priority number one.
Derived from the cell wall of yeast, 1,3-1,6 Beta Glucan is a super, immune boosting supplement. If an illness strikes, take 250 mg a day. Otherwise, the maintenance dose of 250 mg taken once a week on an empty stomach is adequate.
Fever is your friend. If you have a fever let it run; viruses are very susceptible to even slight increases in body temperature. You can start cooling yourself off around 104 or 105 degrees.
Vitamin D3 stimulates a group of proteins called antimicrobial peptides. These peptides can inhibit or kill a number of viruses, and bacteria. The more D3 a person has in their body, the more of these microbe killing peptides one makes. Most people are deficient in D3. The average person needs about 2,000 units a day. During a viral attack, neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock recommends that amount can be increased to 10 or 20,000 units a day for two or three days only. People with hyperparathyroidism and pregnant women should supplement only under supervision of their physician.
So, what does kill viruses?
Elderberry extract, (Sambucol) was developed in Israel for just this purpose. I recommend several teaspoons daily of Elderberry extract at the first sign of a respiratory viral infection. Let it coat your mouth and throat and don’t drink anything for 15 or 20 minutes. “Sambucus Immune” by Nature’s Way is a lozenge that I especially like. My grandkids take it during flu season. Another natural compound called Active Hexose Correlated Compound (AHCC) was developed in Japan and backed by more than 80 studies supporting its immune boosting ability at stopping viral replication and destroying virus-infected cells. AHCC awakens and enhances the immune system’s natural killer (NK) cells, our first line of defense. And don’t forget vitamin C. During flu season, take a supercharged, highly absorbable version called lipospheric or liposomal C.
Avoid popping antibiotics at the first sign of the flu. Try the above suggestions and remember… antibiotics don’t kill viruses and chemotherapy’s way too dangerous!
